Cutting Wood, Making Sawdust, Nail Gun and Stain – Oh My!
Feeling kind of Bad Ass today!
I completed my 4th woodworking project this weekend. It’s pretty freaking amazing. A noodleboard that I have been wanting to make for some time now. I am in woodworking heaven.
We started this woodworking business idea last summer and although it’s been a long process, we are definitely making progress in the “what we want to do” category.
It started at the beginning of last year when we started with the blinged out sweet 16 names and then snowballed with ideas from there.
I fell in love with the idea of the rustic style farmhouse lap tray. Small. Easy to complete. Ease of transport and delivery.
We then moved on to a blanket ladder which was exceptionally fun to make. We made some of our adjustments and came up with our own plans for build.
Finally, the noodleboard. I so stinking love this thing. It’s actually not even complete yet. We have a CNC carving machine and I haven’t figured out the font I want to engrave our names on it. It may look just like the lap tray – it’s about 75% the same build – with a few adjustments along the way.
With the CNC machine, we also started wall decor projects that are AH-MAZE-ING. I get so inpired looking at ideas on #Pinterest and putting our own spin on ideas.
We are going to start on the small scale with sales. Just advertising locally for a little while and see what kind of demands there are for such products other than the requests we get from family and friends.
On the large scale business side of things, figuring out how to ship a larger board is also something we are not sure we want to get involved in. Going to take some time there to figure it all out. Shipping a blanket ladder? I don’t know so much about that……….
So yeah, feeling bad assy on this #MotivationMonday. Wearing my sawdust covered sweater again today to start cutting wood for stock. Playing with fonts and designs for carving.
Going to have a VERY productive snowday around here
Ahh! These are so cute and definitely makes me want to start doing some woodworking!
Once you start, you won’t want to stop! It’s truly addicting and meditative at the same time
I love all of these projects, especially the lap tray! Beautiful work!
